Fung Sui?

Hi All,

A lengthy posting by Dr.Ong of Guiculture from the Traditional Fengshui Yahoo Group for you to slowly read, ha-ha.......Too lazy to do any posting today.

Shen Zhu Reng "stole" the manual of Zhong Seng Zhan in early 1900s. So, he was
not fully aware what the inner circle of Zhong Seng Zhan teaches. The famous
master Tan Yang Wu was of the lineage of Zhong Seng Zhan and a main student down
the line is Master Francis Leyau. I have written with Francis Leyau a book of
his school Flying Stars. I will just re-quote from the book:

An effect of the time in the Flying Star Feng Shui is the concept of the
locations of the Zheng Shen (Direct Spirit) and Ling Shen (Indirect Spirit).
In any Period, the Zheng Shen location is that of the Lo Shu sector represented
by the number. For the Period 7, the Lo Shu sector represented by 7 is West,
which is therefore the Zheng Shen location. The opposite location would be the
Ling Shen (Indirect Spirit) location.

The Zheng Shen location is auspicious, while the Ling Shen location is
inauspicious. The inauspiciousness of the Indirect Spirit location is that, in
the said Period, it is often the location of the number 5, the inauspicious
Yellow Star. For Period 5, during the first 10 years the Zheng Shen location is
6, while the Ling Shen location is 4. For Period 5, during the second 10 years
the Zheng Shen location is 4, while the Ling Shen location is 6. These rules of
external forms are important:

Water is allowed in the Indirect Spirit location but not that of the Direct
Spirit. Mountain is allowed in the Direct Spirit location but not that of the
Indirect Spirit. In the Upper Yuns of 1 to 4 and the first 10 years of Yun 5,
water is allowed in the Lo Shu sectors 6,7,8,9. In the Lower Yuns of 6 to 9 and
the second 10 years of Yun 5, water is not allowed in the Lo Shu sectors
6,7,8,9.

Hence, the area to have mountains differs in the two schools! According to
Joseph Yu's presentation the mountain will have to be at least in the East.
However, in the inner Zhong Seng Zhan school, according to their Zheng Shen-Ling
Shen theory, the mountain has to be in the West and forbidden in the East!

In the Zheng Shen-Ling Shen method of Xuan Kong Liu Fa school, for Period 7, the
mountain coincidentally has to be at Dui at W, while the water is to be at Zhen
at E. However, for some other Periods, the Liu Fa identification of the
mountain area may be different from that of Zhong Seng Zhan school.

That is, the different Xuan Kong groups can have different contradicting
prognosis! So, you have the problem of who is right and wrong?

Even though I know much of the "inner secrets" of the Zhong Seng Chan's school,
I am not a supporter of Flying Stars. My reason is simple, based on the
historical testimony of traditional Chinese architecture. The traditional
Chinese palaces and tomb complexes have entrances facing South. There was hardy
any entrances facing the northsides! A major portion (a least one third) of the
Flying Stars charts are nonsense.

The Liu Fa group attacked the Flying Star use of the physical door facing to
determine the "flight of the numbers." This Liu Fa rule may be more correct.
However, I am not a supporter of Liu Fa - their 9 Eras theory conficts with
astronomical evidence.

The line quoted by Joseph Yu occurs as line QNX 2.49-2.50 in this context:

QNX 2.45, 2.46: 24 Mountains have two formula of calculations. Not many
masters today understand this theory.

QNX 2.47, 2.48: Five Elements are distributed within the 24 Mountains, how
many masters to day have remembered this formula.

QNX 2.49, 2.50: Dragon from the mountain does not get into the water, same as
water dragon does not climb up the mountain.

QNX 2.51, 2.52: Apply this method of calculation to the mountain and water and
hundred of miles of mountain and water can be measured within a short time.

QNX 2.53, 2.54: Another method is to calculate completely Yang and completely
Yin. Eight feet to the front and back must not be in the mess.

QNX 2.55, 2.56: To choose sloping or straight all depends on the Yin and Yang.
When qi is in line with the sheng and wang ["vital and strong" as also in QNX
2.59 and 2.60] there will not contain any sha.

QNX 2.57, 2.58: Must have the knowledge of incoming mountain and humps, does not
matter whether it consists of three or four joints.

QNX 2.59, 2.60: After all, if the dragon spirit is vital and strong, unusual Yin
Yang will be in the hsueh.

There are at least two methods of determination. What the warring schools do
not realise is that for both methods to be valid, lines QNX 2.57-2.58 show that
there must be actual observations of the physical mountains and water flows.
Line QNX 2.52 shows that you have to observe a wide expanse of area before
concluding - you have to go out there in the field and examine the physical
terrain.

You cannot just sit within a room and do some calculations. Then hey prestos,
you recommend that water should be placed here or there and a large piece of
rock here or there. The Qing Nang Xu Feng Shui is never meant for small areas
like individual buildings as it was meant for large areas capable of
accommodating whole cities!

This passage of Zeng Wen Chan was further elaborated by his master Yang Yun Sung
in his "Zheng Shen-Ling Shen" section in Tian Yu Jing. Almost all current
masers admit they found Tian Yu Jing difficult to understand. I am afraid they
all got what Yang Yun Sung meant muddled up! I think you have to wait for my
publication on the complicated Tian Yu Jing at a future date - because there are
still a bit of things about Tian Yu Jing which I myself do not understand!. At
present I am researching Lai Bu Yi's Cui Guan Pian, which may clear up some of
the grey areas of Tian Yu Jing.

It is my belief that all these schools have rights and wrongs. Their theories
and methods should be checked against scientific evidence and historical
testimony. We need careful research to rectify the situation.

I know Joseph Yu advocates that the Bagua should not change for the Southern
Hemisphere. Whether the Flying Star chart should be reversed is academic to me,
as I consider Flying Star a wrong method. I have not communicated with him. I
think he is wrong, but I still recognise that Joseph Yu is a knowledgeable
person and so is Francis Leyau, and I may not be right in some of the things I
write. I like Francis Leyau's attitude, as he said that if he finds that he is
wrong he will admit it.

I know the Liu Fa and Yang Gong people would love to use what I say against the
Flying Star people. But that is not the way. We need to cooperate, discuss
properly and learn from each other. Have we not quarreled enough? Admitting
one right can cover for all the wrongs we have!

CHU XI, GREATEST OF CONFUCIAN SCHOLARS, DENOUNCED QI AS ORIGIN OF ALL THING

Dear Pete,

Here are some notes showing that Andy is much mistakened that Shao Yung would
agree with him!. Andy had wrote:

In Huang Ji Jing Shih Shao Yung wrote : The Tao that established heaven is yin
and yang...the Tao that established earth is hardness and softness". Basically
put, it is the non-perceivable chi of yin and yang that produces the heavenly
bodies which in turn have an effect and influence on the earth. Heavenly and
earthly phenomena emerge from the intermingling of chi, chi emerges from Tao. It
is astonishing that Dr. Ong classifies it the other way and begins the process
with heaven, and after that, chi.

Andy does not realise that it was not Shao Yung who put forward the view that qi
is the origin of all things. Here is the historical testimony below

Tea Break......

The Philosophy of Life

Life is an endless struggle, full of frustrations and challenges, but eventually you find a hair stylist you like.

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing in the right place, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

Time may be a great healer but it's also a lousy beautician.

Brain cells come and go but fat cells live forever.

Life not only begins at forty; it begins to show.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing.

Age is important only if you are cheese and wine.

The only time, a woman wishes that she were a year older is when she is pregnant.

Part 2 of the posting, break it up, you know to make it less boring.

The Contradicting Philosophers

One commentator had noted that, around AD 1000, in Sung China, Shao Yung was a
minor figure in one of the two main groups of philosophers:

"Despite doctrinal disgreement among themselves, the Cheng brothers and their
friends and teachers Chou Tung I, Shao Yung and Chang Tsai were united in their
opposition to the economic reform movement. Ssuma Kuang (AD 1019-1088), himelf a
major scholar and historian, was the friend of both Shao Yung and Chang Tsai and
patron of the Cheng brothers, he was the most important political figure in the
anti-reform group. In a second camp were followers of the reformer Wang An
Shih... himself a poet and scholar..."

These Sung philosophers had differing views about fundamental concepts of qi,
Yin Yang:

"LIKE OTHER Neo-Confucianists, Chang Tsai (Chang Heng-ch'u, 1020-1077) drew his
inspiration chiefly from the Book of Changes. But unlike Chou Tun-i (Chou
Lien-hsi, 1017-1073) according to whom evolution proceeds from the Great
Ultimate through the two material forces (yin and yang) and the Five Agents
(Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth) to the myriad things, and unlike Shao Yung
( 1011- 1077) according to whom evolution proceeds from the Great Ultimate
through the two material forces and other stages to concrete things, Chang Tsai
identifies material force (ch'i) with the Great Ultimate itself. He discards
both yin and yang and the Five Agents as generative forces. To him, yin and yang
are merely two aspects of material force, and as such are basically one. As
substance, before consolidation takes place, material force is the Great
Vacuity. As function, in its activity and tranquillity, integration and
disintegration, and so forth, it is the Great Harmony. But the Great Vacuity and
the Great Harmony are the same as the Way (Tao), the One. As contraction and
expansion, the two aspects of material force are kuei-shen, or negative and
positive spiritual forces." (Wing-Tsit Chan, in Chinese Philosophy)

It can be seen that Shao Yung's view was not accepted by many of his colleague
philosophers. Also, it has to be noted that the concept of qi giving rise to
all things was not, as wrongly assumed by Andy, Shao Yung's view but that of
Chang Tsai. As the above indicates, Chang Tsai did not agree with Shao Yung.

Chu Xi's Stand

During that period, there was Chu Xi, the greatest of the Confucian philosopers.
Chu Xi disagreed with Shao Yung as well as with Chang Tsai's view of qi as the
origin of all things:

"Thus, in their discussions of the natural world, the traditional Chinese did
not go deeper than phenomenal surface of the reality. Questions delving deeper
into what one sees and accepts were not raised. Zhu Xi, for example, confessed
that his influential friend, Zhang Shi ??(1133-1180), did not approve his wish
to write a commentary on Shao Yong's ??(1011-1077) theory about the outside of
the world. The orthodox neo-Confucians shunned discussions of questions like
these. Such attitude can be seen in Zhu Xi's comment on the famous dialogue
between Cheng Yi ?? (1033-1107) and ShaoYong on where thunder comes from: On
Cheng Yi's saying, "Thunder comes from where it comes from," which had been
given in response to Shao Yong's question, "Where do you think [thunder] comes
from?", Zhu Xi's comment was: "Why must one know where it come from?"" (Yung
Sik Kim 2008)

"Scholars of the late Ming through early Qing period (mid-seventeenth to early
eighteenth century), notably, Wang Fuzhi (1619-92) and Dai Zhen (Tai Chen,
1723-77), disputed Zhu on philosophical and textual grounds. Whereas Zhu had
insisted on the priority of "pattern" over qi, (roughly, form over matter), Wang
and Dai followed the Northern Song thinker Zhang Zai in affirming the priority
of qi, viewing patterns as a posteriori evolutionary realizations of qi
interactions. They thought this account dissolved the threat of any hint of
dualism in cosmology, ontology and human nature. For his part, Zhu Xi would have
responded that, fundamentally, "pattern" is implicated in the very make-up and
possible configurations of qi; which is why the regular a posteriori patterns
can emerge. "Pattern" provides for the standing orders and processes, based on
the steady interactions of yin-yang, five phases, etc., that give rise to the
heaven-earth world order, with its full complement of ten thousand things. The
fundamental a priori patterns are thus necessary to the world order and provide
the fecund context in which the a posteriori forms emerge continuously. Wang and
Dai's qi-based view could not account for existence and the world order in this
sense. At the same time, Zhu did not think that "patterns" were absolutely
determinative. They just set certain "possibilities of order" that are realized
when the necessary qi conditions obtain. For the most part, he registered the
range of randomness and free flow in qi activity that is best exemplified in the
randomness of weather systems and seismic events." (Kirill O. Thompson 2007)

It will be seen that Chu Xi insisted that patterns give rise to qi and not the
other way round. Chu Xi's view is close to what Zeng Wen Chan wrote in Qing
Nang Xu and Huang Shih Kung in his Qing Nang Jing, that the Heaven produces qi:

QNX 2.15, 2.16: The source from the Red Sparrow gives rise to the benevolent qi.
Step by step explanation to enlighten the slow learner.

QNX 2.17, 2.18: One produces two and two produces three, three produces the ten
thousands things and this is known as the origin of evolution.

QNJ 1.34 & 1.35 Heaven consists of five planets. Earth consists of Five
Elements

QNJ 1.36 & 1.37 Heaven is divided into constellations. Earth is arranged
according to mountains and rivers.

QNJ 1.38 & 1.39 Qi transforms on the ground. Pattern magnifies from the sky.

QNJ 1.40 & 1.41 Based on pattern to evaluate qi. One can establish the
guideline for Man

It is not as Andy tried to mislead us, for these Sung philosphers could not
agree on the issues of Taiji, Yin Yang and qi. So, pick your choice, whom you
want to believe!

The Real Maxtrix

Despite the dispute between Chu Xi and Shao Yung, the person among those Sung
philosophers who was closest to the Truth was "Chou Tun-i (Chou Lien-hsi,
1017-1073) according to whom evolution proceeds from the Great Ultimate through
the two material forces (yin and yang) and the Five Agents (Metal, Wood, Water,
Fire, and Earth) to the myriad things".

Chou Tun-i's view is what the traditional Feng Shui master would know of the
evolution of the Great Ultimate into Yin Yang and then the 8 trigrams. This
evolution of the Great Ultimate into Yin Yang and then the 8 trigrams is
described in Confucius' Shou Kua commentary to the I Ching.

The word "qi" hardly appeared in the Confucian classics, with one or two mention
in the writings of Mencius.

One historical mention of "qi" was in a 655 BC context that qi was something
observable!:

"In 655 BC it is reported that the Duke of Lu went up to the Divine Terrace to
observe the Ch'i at the equinoxes, solstices, and the beginnings of the four
seasons." (Walters 1987 p.238).

Duke of Lu's equinoxes, solstices & beginnings of 4 seasons are the 8 directions
of Bagua. In its earliest perspective, qi referred to some physically visible
atmospheric aura or impression. The "Divine Terrace" was actually a tower
serving as a gigantic gnomon stick. Such a tower serving as a gnomon was the
Chou Kung Tower, established during the Chou dynasty to measure variations of
the solar shadow.

What had happened was that many of the Sung philosophers had misappropriated a
word with a physical meaning and turns it into an abstract term alike to the
Greek "ether." The etymoloogy of the word "qi" shows it refers to evaporating
vapour. Yin Yang, whose etymology shows they merely mean darkness and sunlight,
were transformed into mysterious forces.

It is not wrong if some Sung philosphers wanted to borrow perfectly physical
terms for their discourses. I would liek to remind that these Sung philosophers
had disgreements about these terms. But, the moment someone wants to apply the
metaphysical usage of these terms for the real world of Feng Shui and astrology,
I must say he is an idiot.

The Sad Results

While these Sung philosophers argued among themselves, China was in deep
trouble, with rampant corruption and the national treasury virtually bankrupt.
One man sent the emperor an essay of "Ten Thousands Words", spelling out how to
salvage China. The young emperor asked that man to become prime minister - he
was Wang An Shih.

A major reason why the treasury was so empty was that in those days the major
part of the budget was used to buy clothes for the ministers and officials. So
Wang An Shih ordered the cloth stipend to be cut down. Vested interests
objected. The army then had a single large area to rear horses. Wang An Shih
wanted the rearing of horses to decentralise so that high transport costs could
be eliminated. The prime ministers tried to create a balanced budget.

Unfortunately for China, Wang An Shih was opposed by the nincompoop group of
philosophers rallied around Ssuma Hwang. Ssuma Hwang was friendly to many of
the corrupt leaders and raised illogical objections to Wang An Shih. Cvhi Xi
also sided Ssuma Hwang. Fortunately, for the prime minister, the emperor
favoured him. The unfortunate thing was that the emperor died after a few years
(probably poisoned).

At once, Ssuma Hwang saw his old friend the Empress Dowager and got Wang An Shih
sacked. The new emperor was young and the Empress Dowager was regent - she
reversed Wang An Shih's measures. The country slided into further ruins. When
the boy was matured, he found it too late to recall Wang An Shih.

Ssuma Hwang and Chu Xi were to write that they regretted opposing Wang An Shih.
They woke up too late to what Wang An Shih was trying to do. The enemies along
the northern borders eventually conquered Sung China and established the Mongol
rule.

All these Sung philosophers philosophied their country's future away, and among
them was Shao Yung, Chang Tsai and regretably Chu Xi himself. It goes to show
the values of their thoughts which contributed to the ruin of a great nation.

What's happening?

Hi all,

I' m really getting bored with metaphysics, let's temporary talk about current affairs, ha-ha.

What is right? and what is wrong?

February 28, 2007

'As with other years, Venerable Shi Ming Yi, Chairman/Honorary CEO of Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre, will also take on a daredevil item to tug our heartstrings and rally for donations. While the man himself isn’t sure of the stunt details, that it requires a lot of resilience and fitness and probably involves walking vertically up. Host Quan Yifeng also gleefully told the gathering of reporters that Venerable Ming Yi has been making clandestine trips to Paragon everyday for the past one to two months… to train in the gym there at the unearthly hour of 6am!

Do difficult and jaw-dropping stunts bring in droves of donations, and thus mild-mannered Venerable Ming Yi’s annual trip to the extreme? Why doesn’t he do something simpler?

Venerable Ming Yi replied, “I will always first consider my own abilities and whether I can carry it out very willingly. On one hand it’s to help others; on the other, it’s do test my own resilience. As to whether I’ll do simpler items, it’s up to the charity show planners to decide. I can’t possibly still be doing highly demanding stunts when I’m 55 years old!” He is currently 45 years old.'

SINGAPORE: The sixth day of the trial against former Ren Ci CEO, Shi Ming Yi, threw light on the way staff loans were granted, even though the hospital did not have a formal policy on it.

The court on Thursday heard that Ming Yi had approved several loans to various staff. Among them, was Dr Ong Seh Hong who is currently the community hospital’s chief operating officer and clinical director of Ren Ci Hospital and Medicare Centre.

Dr Ong is also a Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC. When contacted by Channel NewsAsia, the MP said he is unable to comment as the trial is still ongoing.

Testifying in court, Ren Ci’s former human resource manager, Joyce Teng Lee Foong, said the staff loan was made to Dr Ong when he first joined the hospital in 2000.

The S$60,000 loan is understood to be the largest sum approved by Ming Yi. It is not known whether the loan has been repaid.

The court also learnt that Ming Yi’s former aide, Raymond Yeung, was offered an employment contract in 2001, despite his unsuccessful application for an employment pass.

Ming Yi subsequently granted Yeung a S$50,000 loan, even though the latter remained without an employment pass until 2004. This was recorded on Ren Ci’s books as a loan made to Mandala Buddhist Cultural Centre.

At issue now is whether Yeung, who is an Australian citizen and only became a Singapore Permanent Resident in 2006, had received the loan as a legitimate Ren Ci employee.

The trial continues........

How to get things correctly with support..........

Singapore church leader paid S$500,000

MARCH 30 – The New Creation Church in Singapore, which made headlines for raising $19 staff million on one Sunday last month for its upcoming multi-million dollar building, pays good money to its staff, too.

The independent church paid one employee between $500,001 and $550,000 in its last financial year, checks by The Straits Times showed.

The church did not confirm if the amount went to its leader, Senior Pastor Joseph Prince, but told The Straits Times that its policy is to “recognise and reward key contributors to the church and Senior Pastor Prince is the main pillar of our church’s growth and revenue”.

Its honorary secretary, Deacon Matthew Kang, added: “Senior Pastor Prince is the key man responsible for bringing in about 95 per cent of our church’s income. I must concede that he has enriched the church and not the other way round.

“Above all, through Senior Pastor Prince’s ministry, many people have experienced the grace and love of our Lord Jesus for themselves and seen how their lives have been transformed and marriages restored.”

The salary disclosure was contained in the church’s last financial year’s annual report submitted to the Commissioner of Charities. It stated the compensation given to its top three key management.

One person earned between $500,001 and $550,000, while two others were paid between $150,001 and $200,000. No names were given.

The church had an income of $55.4 million in its last financial year. Over 95 per cent came from tithes and offerings.'

Another Perspective....ha-ha

'I am afraid both writers, despite their good intentions, may have forgotten that, in Singapore, the culture that has evolved is that respect and/or prestige are in direct proportion to earnings and wealth.

In the mid-1990s, it became official policy that pay in the public sector should be comparable to that in the private sector to attract talent.

But the numerous cited examples of individuals who have in fact opted for social service work go a long way towards showing that there are indeed Singaporeans who are prepared to make meaningful sacrifices in their income.

The opinion that "it may be hard for them to continue to work in the charity sector despite their passion and enthusiasm if they are not paid well enough" merely reflects a more "money-minded" attitude.

'The $500,000 paid to the New Creation Church chief has been defended on the grounds that "he is the key man responsible for bringing in about 95 per cent of the church's income".

This calls to mind the furore in the 1980s when it was brought to public notice that professional fund-raisers were being rewarded with up to 30 per cent for their efforts in collecting money for public charities.

The more pragmatic attitude of "quid pro quo" or more simply "what's in it for me?" had already then replaced any ideals of altruism.

More than 25 years on, it does not look as if much has changed.

About Life

- Age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

- Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a mechanic.

- Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

- A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

- Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

- If you're too open minded, your brains will fall out.

- It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Something light from Past Era,

Presidential Accident

One day the president was out jogging and accidentally fell from a ridge into a very cold river. Three boys, playing along the river, saw the accident. Without a second thought, they jumped in the water and dragged the wet president out of the river.

After cleaning up he said, "Boys, you saved the President of the United States today. You deserve a reward. You name it, I'll give it to you."

The first boy said, "Please, I'd like a ticket to Disneyland!"

"I'll personally hand it to you," said Mr. President.

"I'd like a pair of Nike Air Turbos," the second boy said.

"I'll buy them myself and give them to you," said the grateful president.

"And I'd like a wheelchair with a stereo in it," said the third boy.

"I'll personally ... wait a second, son, you're not handicapped!"

"No -- but I will be when my dad finds out I saved you from drowning."

Till-then, cheerio!!!

Will be back on Metaphysics soon........ha-ha

For those who are local and have seen this advertisement.

Taken from fenghui Master Victor Li, a case study (Not Li Kui Ming)

The Ritz Carlton is a Six Star Hotel in Singapore's bay area. A peripheral view elucidate the presence of octagonal shaped windows with the whole of the lower portion of this building elevated high up into the air. Beneath thus exists a gigantic spherical air well with its inner frontage together with both the dragon and tiger barricades displaying design eminence.

In view of the many buildings sighted by the author during various visits to Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East, windows adopting the Ba Gua shape is indeed a vacuity. Ritz Carlton is indeed avant garde to use this conception. From the point of feng shui the Ba Gua is used for the elimination of Shar from outer formation. However, care must be taken because it also encourages disharmony and lawsuit thus its placement must be that of due care to prevent environmental disharmony.

Just adjacent to one side of the hotel is a diagonal eight lane highway. With the high speed of the traveling vehicles and the proximity of this bridge, the impact of its Shar is ominous. Certain geomancers will use 'Ba Gua mirrors' to intermit this Shar, whereas for the Ritz Carlton, the octagonal shaped windows employed resemble thousands of hundreds of Ba Gua mirrors on the hotel's exterior.

The hotel's main entrance is that of a large circular tunnel totally consummating its basement. Thus in feng shui study is the 'hauling of water across the hall' i.e. water in the exterior frontage is lug in for self usage, thus the incessant incoming wealth.

Most buildings adopt a solid base to depict stability, credibility and the hailing of abettor. However for both the Ritz Carlton and the Hong Kong's Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank Corporation headquarters the base of the building are thoroughly lifted. The adaptation to and recreation of new environment of modern architecture in semblance to the requirement of olden days lair formation - begets the benign and expel the baleful.

Due to proximity of the highway, the whole hotel has been up rooted skyward of about five storeys to completely the Shar radiated, a measure in addition to the use of reflective mirrors.

The highway, originally the hotel's 'bridge star' is converted into its 'incoming water' by this elevation - an exquisite display of Xuan Kong's 'Mountain & Water concerto'. The classic states: 'The embodiment of wind requires water, presence of both, the hoarding of chi.'

Frontiers can be subdivided into both external and internal, the requirements being outer frontier must be huge - the Marina Bay, whilst the inner frontier small - the hotel's swimming pool.

With the presence of water in both its frontiers together with its refined apparition, this is an undefeatable lair lasting for 180 years (throughout the three Cycles). A semi circular car porch further dictates the dragon & tiger barricades thus the entrapment of the inner frontage chi and its preservation.

Till-then,cheerio!!!

A Brit, a Frenchman and a Russian are viewing a painting of Adam and Eve frolicking in the Garden of Eden. "Look at their reserve, their calm," muses the Brit. "They must be British."

"Nonsense," the Frenchman disagrees. "They're naked, and so beautiful. Clearly, they are French."

"No clothes, no shelter," the Russian points out, "they have only an apple to eat, and they're being told this is paradise. They are Russian."

About the interest in Landforms Fengshui and having nothing to do, I decided to go along Mentor Koh recent fengshui tour again. It was nice of him to include two new places for the tour, Thanks Master Koh.

Life After Death

"Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees.

"Yes, Sir." the employee replied.

"Well, then, that makes everything just fine," the boss went on. "After you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you."

Ok, further about My Encounter with The Other Kind.

I'm using another method of poker card taught by Mentor Vincent Koh of Singapore Fengshui Centre which is almost similar to the other method introduced in the earlier posts.

As you can see that centre card is an Ace of Spades which is for negative relationship however, in fine tuning the south sector of the circle of cards which is for relationship, it shows a card of Seven of Hearts and Ten of Diamonds which are red cards and denotes warm and positive relationship. But then why, the centre card is an Ace of Spades for bad relationship. That means another kind of relationship, not human, ha-ha, my own interpretation.

I then to reaffirm and check the hexagram constructed from the cards which then gives the hexagram of : Kui 43

IQ and EQ

As usual,

About Insurance. Man

A man walks into an insurance office and asks for a job. "We don't need any one," they replied.

"You can't afford not to hire me. I can sell anyone anytime any thing."

"We have two prospects that no one has been able to sell. If you can sell just one, you have a job."

He was gone for about two hours and returned and handed them two checks, one for a $80,000 policy and another for a $50,000 policy. "How in the world did you do that," they asked.

"I told you I'm the world's best salesman, I can sell anyone anywhere anytime."

"Did you get a urine sample?" they asked him.

"Why's that?" he asked.

"Well, if you sell a policy over $40,000 the company requires a urine sample. Take these two bottles and go back and get urine samples."

He was gone for about eight hours and then he walks in with two five gallon buckets, one in each hand. He sets the buckets down and reaches in his shirt pocket and produces two bottles of urine and sets them on the desk and says, "Here's Mr. Brown's and this one is Mr. Smith's."

"That's good," they said, "but what's in those two buckets?"

"Well, I passed by the school house and they were having a state teachers convention and I sold them a group policy!"

Ha-ha.....

Subject: [Traditional Feng Shui] more on facing

The following is a compilation of the methods used by Yap Cheng Hai of Malaysia. His Ba Zhai method is different from what is commonly taught by other masters but he's had more than 50 years of experience and findings to support his style. Thus, I feel that there's must be something of value to learn from it:

Main door of house should FACE Ming Gua auspicious directions. Shift or tilt the main entrance to face the good directions if required to ensure the entry of only the auspicious Qi. Ancient feng shui masters did not have to tilt the angle of their doors and it was because town planning was unheard of those days. They could therefore build their homes according to their respective auspicious feng shui alignments. Hence the haphazard streets and layout in some old towns and villages in China. Another case in point: The Yaps visited a Master Leaw in his home in Ganzhai, China, not too long ago. The 85-year-old feng shui master, who is a direct descendant of one of the two disciples of Yang Su Chong, had his door tilted in the early 1990s to tap his most auspicious direction. This is significant because feng shui is here today because of Yang Su Chong, an imperial astronomer and librarian.

The position of the kitchen and direction of the stove is the second most important aspect of a home, after that of the main door. Kitchen is to be located in your Ming Gua inauspicious locations with the stove pointing towards your auspicious directions. The kitchen door must face an auspicious direction. What is the direction of the stove, you may ask. The direction is deemed to be the controls of the stove or the fire mouth, which is where the flame of the stove is controlled. Also, watch out for the directions that should be avoided each year. You will need to be careful when shifting a stove which, in feng shui, is considered a major project. An alternative to moving the stove would be to use a portable stove for that year.

Headboard of bed should point to Ming Gua auspicious directions.

Always sit FACING your Ming Gua auspicious directions.

Bedroom should be located in your Ming Gua auspicious sectors.

Toilet should not be located in your Ming Gua auspicious sectors.

It is alright to renovate the Tai Sui area if you have yet to move in. To offset the Tai Sui, you may consider putting something metallic.

If your children are rebellious, and you want them to listen to you, activate the Yan Nian direction. The ideal would be to locate the child in a room at the parent's Yan Nian location. If this is not possible, an alternative would be to use a room in the child's own Yan Nian location. In both cases, the child should sleep with his head pointing to his own Yan Nian direction. For example, it the father is Kan Gua (Gua number 1) and the child is Zhen Gua (Gua number 3), the child should sleep in the room located in the South (the father's Yan Nian location) with his head pointing to SE (his own Yan Nian direction).

To assist in studies, the main point to consider is the location of the study table and the direction of the study table. In this case, we will want to activate either the Fu Wei or Sheng Qi direction. For example, if the student is a Kun Gua (gua number 2), then his Fu Wei direction is SW and his Sheng Qi direction is NE. Have the desk at the SW room in the SW location of the room and facing either NE or SW. An additional consideration is to look at the fl ying stars of the house. The 1 White star is generally considered the scholarly star. As such, if you are able to face the 1 white star and that direction coincides with the your auspicious direction, this will also contribute to the scholarly success of the person. The 1 White star is at the East in 2006.

Certain masters would determine the facing of a condominium from the balcony, basically standing at the balcony door looking outwards. We have found that this is not necessarily correct. In most cases we would use the actual entrance door of your condominium, standing inside the unit and measuring outwards. Why measure outwards? This is the direction the Qi is coming from. I would usually consider the apartment entrance as the main facing and my case histories have proven me to be correct. The entrance to the respective condo or apartment unit is considered its main door. So, this is where the owner should tap his auspicious direction. On the other hand, while the common entrance to the condo or apartment project is not important to the individual unit owners or dwellers, it is important to the developer. As for the feng shui for a whole floor, consider for a moment: Is everyone on the same floor enjoying the same good fortune or suffering the same bad
luck? I heavily doubt that this would be the case. "In our opinion and experience, the balcony door does not qualify as the main door. This is taking into consideration that the doorway is defined by the action of entering and exiting a property, and in the process, bringing in the qi from outside the property," say the Yaps. One can't possibly walk in through the balcony door, nor can one exit from the balcony door to leave the unit.

I am sure that in every floor there is a mix of both good and bad. This could be more a case of whether the apartment is suitable for the occupants rather than the feng shui of an entire floor. Yes, there is a methodology to choose the best floor and from there, the best unit, but ultimately I am more concerned about your main entrance and master bedroom. Only after these major aspects are put right would I consider looking at the floor and the unit location, which I consider to be more of a fine tuning effort.

The first bit of advice I can provide you is to forget about buying numbers. Some people have the luck and some do not. In your case, I suspect that you do not as you have yet to strike any numbers. So, the first step to wealth is to save the money that you spend on buying numbers.

The notion of house Gua is basically incorrect. I am sure there are people who will argue about this point but they don't have 50 years of accumulated data on this matter. Let us look at the matter properly; feng shui consists of the heavenly or cosmic trinity of Heaven, Earth and Man. Feng shui is a potential, which can only be activated by the human qi. The house is passive and hence cannot have a Gua. Also, from another angle, this would mean that a person who is an E Gua should only use a N-S oriented house and a W Gua person should only use a NE-SW oriented house. This will limit the choice of houses a person can buy. The lamppost opposite you will affect you only if you have a door facing it. As your door is facing SE, the lamppost should not affect you. If you are still worried, you can hang up a Ba Gua mirror with a convex surface on the front of your house pointing back towards the lamppost.

Basic Guide for Water Placement Based on Ba Zhai

Place water in good areas. For example, the best direction and location for a Kun (No 2) Gua person is in the northeast. Based on this school of feng shui, the best place for an aquarium is in the northeast sector of the house.

Colours have a very minimal effect. I would say that if the rest of your feng shui is correct, having the right colour is not too important. On the other hand, if your feng shui is generally wrong, then every little bit helps where ease of mind is concerned. In other words, if you get your room location and bed direction right, don't worry about the colour.

You should put the crystal in a location that is auspicious for you. What is auspicious depends on your Life Gua.

Feng shui is definitely not a religion. In fact, anybody can learn and implement feng shui for himself. It is about tapping the qi, a universal cosmic energy, for a person's well being. Feng shui is also about location and direction. Thus, if something claims to be feng shui but does not have anything to do with location and direction, then it is most probably not feng shui. The art is derived from the ancient Chinese Ba Gua or eight trigrams, which dates back some 6,000 years ago. Feng shui has no bearing with religion. It is similar to the Taoist philosophy, which has its roots in China much earlier than Buddhism, in that everything is cyclical and everything will revert to the tao or nothingness. The link between feng shui and Taoism is very obvious. The scholars in ancient days were all Taoists and you could say that the Taoists practised feng shui. As the general population became more educated, feng shui spread as a form of knowledge and broke free from Taoism.

Grandmaster Yap Cheng Hai puts it aptly: "Heaven Luck is the boat given to you by God. Earth Luck is the wind that fills the sails and the currents of the ocean. Man Luck is the way in which you use the wind and the currents to steer your boat."

According YCH a few hundred years ago books were written by feng shui masters during the Ching dinasty with false information to confuse the masses to spoil their own feng shui.

Subject: [Traditional Feng Shui] how to find facings

I go with Ray Lo or Johnny Chang:

Lum Kwok Hung ??? (Hong Kong): Main door of the unit / house as the facing. If many doors, take the one with the unit number or name of the building.

Li Kui Ming ??? (Hong Kong): For level 1 to 5, use the main entrance of the whole building. Level 6 and above, use the unit's door facing.

Pak Hok Ming ???(Hong Kong): Use the most Yang side of the house, normally happens to be the side with the most sunlight. Must also consider the facing of the main entrance, the side with the most windows, the nearest road, the ming tang, the nearest water feature and also nearby mountains / hills (to determine the sitting).

Raymond Lo (Hong Kong): The side with an open space in front will be the facing of the house. It must also be assessable from outside (e.g. In the case of a beach house, despite having wide windows facing the sea at one side (open space), this side cannot be considered as the facing since it is not assessable by land).

Yeung Dengkwong ??? (Hong Kong): The main entrance of the whole building. If in terms of an apartment building, the chart is drawn using the facing of the main entrance of the whole building. The best unit is then chosen from this chart of the whole structure. Using the same chart, it will then be superimpose on the unit's floor plan to allocate the kitchen, the masterbedroom, etc. Finally, another chart is created based on the facing of the unit itself. This second chart is for evaluating the external forms and Castle Gate ?? only. He reached this conclusion after evaluating the other methods in details and many experiences. This method is said to have the least conflicts and thus most accurate.

Joey Yap ??? (Malaysia): The facing of the whole building. An apartment building is simply just a big house with many rooms. Therefore, all units will have the same facing.

Lynn Yap (Singapore): Must consider as a whole, from exterior first then interior. In the past, she used the main entrance of the house or unit as facing but realized that it was not very accurate.

Yap Cheng Hai ??? (Malaysia): Main door of the unit / house as the facing. HE's one of the few masters that uses the main door of the structure, to the extent of a apartment's door. Probably he based it on the book ????.

Joseph Yu (Canada): Must consider as a whole. Apartments are to be viewed as a stand alone house. The front door plays no role in determining the facing.

Lilian Too (Malaysia): For houses, use the most Yang side of the house, normally happens to be the side with the best unencumbered and spectacular view. For apartments lower than 9th floor, use the facing entrance of the whole building. Do not use the facing direction of the apartment door. If the unit is on the 9th floor and above, the side with a view from the balcony or patio will be used as the facing since this is akin to living in the high mountains and the Qi distribution will be different.

Larry Sang: The open side of the house is the facing and the closed side is the sitting. You can also think in terms of Yin and Yang. The Yin side is the sitting and the Yang side is the facing. The door does not determine the orientation of the house. The architectural intent is also something that can be used to determine the sitting and facing. Apartments often have the balcony or large windows off the living room as the facing and the hallway or door as the sitting. Remember that the main rule in Feng Shui is it depends. Each house needs to be looked at individually and a determination as to the sitting and facing is both key to the reading and something to be very careful with.

Johnny Chan ??? (Hong Kong): The main entrace of the whole structure. This is because in the ancient scriptures, it is said that Qi will ???? flow close to the ground, thus the main door that opens on ground level will have the most Qi entering the structure. This is true even though you maybe staying in a high-rise apartment building. As for deciding which is the main entrance of the building, it should NOT be based simply on the size of the door or that it is frequently used by most people. This is because when a structure was erected, the facing and Qi entrance were already established at the same time irregardless any human was using the entrance or not.

Liang Chao ?? (China): Use the most Yang side of the house or apartment.

Often when a practitioner gets negative feedback from a reading, it is because the sitting and facing where incorrectly determined.

Alvin Chua'
